Parents

How do the parents get involved?

We actively encourage all parents to get involved with the Pre-school. This can be very rewarding.
Any help, encouragement and support are greatly appreciated and the children reap the rewards.

101_0996Usually most Pre-schools and playgroups have a rota each half term where the parents are asked to stay and help for one session, we don’t insist parents come in (as some parents do work) however we welcome any parents who offer to help. The children are delighted when their parent's stay and it gives them a feeling of security. It also gives you the opportunity to see what your child does when s/he is away from home and what they are learning through play.

We are a Charity group run by a committee on which we have 4/5 parent members, the meetings are held once a term.

The children have a keyworker and they have a weekly slot every approx 4wks. when you can arrange to speak to them or discuss any issues on your child.  Your childs book is there for you to see at any session and you can sign them out if you wish to take them off the premises to show others.  However parents can request a review meeting at any time to discuss any queries they may have directly with the childs key worker or a Leader.

Parent Helper Guidelines

Having asked that you come and help with the pre-school, I thought that you might welcome a
few notes on what we would like you to do during the morning. At the beginning of the session,
please join the children on the carpet so we can introduce you to them and to the members of staff.

After show and tell you may be asked to help supervise an activity, you could help by encouraging the children to take part, play and to talk to them. This prolongs the children's concentration and enjoyment. A child sat in the book corner will be delighted if you offer to read a book to them and don't be surprised to find others will come and listen too. If you are helping with drawing, painting or craft activity, please can you write the child's name (in lower case not capitals). A member of staff will advise on spelling where necessary. Should your own or any other child inform you they need the toilet, please inform a member of staff immediately.

world book day picuresWe have an open snack time, please could you help as you see necessary, allergies are clearly stated on the board. If you have a younger child you may want to consider other arrangements for the session you help at. This is not essential but if you do bring a younger child with you I have to ask you to be responsible for them throughout the session. Please do not worry about your child's behaviour while you are helping as often he/she will behave quite differently if mum / dad is there. We work to a policy of confidentiality, we would ask you to remember this especially where another child's behaviour is concerned.

We hope you find that the time you spend at the pre-school will be worthwhile and enjoyable. However if you have any problems, please let one of the Leaders or another member of staff know, so as we can rectify matters.

Thank you for your support.
