We look forward to meeting you and your child.

Our aim is to ensure that s/he is content and happy with us and will continue to have a fun learning experience in a secure and friendly environment.

Birstall Methodist Pre-school was formed over 40 years ago to meet the ever increasing demand for quality Pre-school education. Working closely and along side the local authority schools, we offer quality play and learning experiences, while helping you and your child to make the transition from home to full time education as easy as possible.

Our staff are all well experienced in the care of Pre-school children.

In each session we have 30 children, with a minimum 4 members of staff.

The main aim of the group is to provide a safe, caring environment which promotes your child's health, individuality, dignity and an opportunity for fun, learning and socialising with adults and children from a wide range of cultures, free from any discrimination such as racism and sexism.

All our activities are appropriate for age and development of the children.

We offer a free choice group where the children decide their own activities and are encouraged to do them for themselves whilst being supported by the staff.

Local author Rose Impey kindly visited Birstall Methodist Pre-School today, Wed 8th June. The well known childrens author, a resident of Birstall, is highly regarded as a writer of books for children of all ages. Rose has written many stories over the years and the children were lucky enough to have her share some of her work with them. Rose shared her love of books with the captivated audience of 28 children for half an hour. After explaining to them who she was and what she did, she introduced them to storybags, where items are placed into a bag and a story is built around them, providing an experience which was both auditory and visual. This method of story-telling was used to introduce the children to one of the first books ever written by Rose, called 'Rabbit's Story'. This was followed by another of Rose Impey's books, 'The Baked Bean Queen', yet again a story very much enjoyed by the children. The children received a special treat when Rose read them a story which has only just been published, called, 'Ten Little Babies'. This easy read with rhyming text was a wonderful way of introducing children to numbers and rhymes. The final story Rose chose to share was based on a true story called, 'Joe's Cafe', which won the Sheffield Childrens Book Award. Throughout the visit, Rose involved the children in the story-telling and asked questions to her audience. The children were very excited about the visit and had photographs taken with the author. It was an honour to have Rose Impey at the Pre-school and we would like to thank her for taking the time to share her work with the children.
